The
Dayspring Emmaus community gathers on the FOURTH Friday
(on months with five weeks, the fourth Friday is not always
the last Friday of the month, so be careful to remember
it is always the FOURTH Friday ) of every month except November
and December (because of holidays) in which case it is the
first Friday in December. Gatherings are held at Dayspring
area participating churches. The Gathering begins at 7:30
p.m. with a covered dish dinner and then moves to a worship
service.
Churches
that wish to host a gathering should contact the Gathering
Coordinator on the Board.
The
Gathering Coordinator will take care of requesting someone
to give the Fourth Day talk.
Details
for Hosts:
- Doublecheck gathering dates with the Board Gathering Coordinator.
- Reserve the dates well ahead, if possible, with your church
and then inform the Gathering Coordinator that they have
been reserved.
- Provide space for seating to eat and then space for the
Worship Service.
- Provide tables on which to put the covered dishes. - Provide
paper plates, utensils, napkins, cups, and beverages. Most
also provide some simple decorations.
- If the room is large, it is helpful to have a microphone
for the musicians to lead the blessing.
- Sound equipment is needed in the Worship area for the
musicians and a microphone and lectern is needed for the
Fourth Day Speaker.
-
If an overhead projector is available to project words of
the songs, let the Gathering Coordinator know so that that
information can be communicated to the Music Coordinator.
-
Child care area or details worked out. Some churches prefer
to provide their own workers, so they need to be requested
and payment details worked out. In other churches the child
care area needs to be determined and arrangements made with
Dayspring community members that have children old enough
to babysit.
- Coordinate with the Worship person on the Board as to
who is to provide the communion elements and plate and chalice.
- Have someone available to provide directions to the sanctuary
if needed.
-
Have someone let community members know where the restrooms
are.
